Small things with big meaning since 2005
One Saturday morning I woke my husband up with the words, "I've started a business! You can take care of the finances!"
In the fall of 2005, the company Flatebö Design was started with zero kronor, but with a dream. Here is our story.

"Opportunities come in work clothes"
This was never our plan. My plan was to study to be a teacher and work in design during the summer holidays, but that didn't work out. David and I played in a band and I had done all the merch, so I just kept going.
For the t-shirts, I cut out the prints by hand in overhead foil, printed with textile ink in a screen frame my mom gave me, and fixed with an iron. We bought a t-shirt, printed and sold it, and were able to buy two t-shirts.
I remember once I had bought four t-shirts, printed them and put them out and was really panicking about how much money I had invested. "Oh, God! Now you have to help me with this big investment," I prayed and I actually think I was on my knees praying before this "big investment."
We set up a simple online store and filled it with t-shirts. One t-shirt at a time. To keep all the costs down, I did everything myself. I sewed the cloth bags on my mom's sewing machine and the buttons... yes, dear! I made over 100,000 (!) buttons by hand on our little button machine. The designs were cut out by hand, then there were four components and two hard pulls per button so that the table shook. I had constant calluses in my hands and quite a bit of back pain, but, it worked! Sometime a long time ago I heard in a sermon that "opportunities come in work clothes" and it became a little motto that carried and motivated me.
I have also sewn my own drool bags with an overlock and I have lost both count and the desire to sew in the process, but many thousands of drool bags have been made at night. One at a time. Now everything is manufactured by others on a slightly larger scale than that and no one could be more grateful than I am!
In the summer of 2016, we moved to Storvreta, outside Uppsala, where we could have “real” premises and hire staff. In December of the same year, we reorganized the company and started the limited liability company Me & My House Store. The name – which is actually a biblical word – just popped into our heads one day: “I and my house, we want to serve the Lord.”
In the following years we had a fantastic staff and together we grew forward, outward, inward and upward. So much laughter and joy, answered prayers and great moments we had between the warehouse shelves!
"I am not ashamed, I know Who I believe in"
In the spring of 2024, we moved our entire warehouse to a wonderful 3PL company that manages our warehouse and ships all orders, but we remain at the controls and draw new designs, take photos, post in the online store and on social media, and it is us that you are in contact with when you contact us. Moving the warehouse from us after almost 20 years of managing everything ourselves was of course a big adjustment, but above all it freed up time to focus on what we are passionate about and good at.
The button machine has retired, but it has reminded us many times that hard work in small things can slowly, slowly grow and become something bigger. That's how we started and that's how we've continued. One thing at a time, but always around the words of the Bible. If you sum up our years so far, they have definitely been tough years, but mixed with so much fun and wow that it's been worth it all. And if I boil down the whole company, only one feeling remains: Gratitude.
We built the company around the Bible verse “ I am not ashamed, I know Whom I have believed ” and dreamed of encouraging people, putting beautiful things in the hands of Christians as a kind of tool to show their faith and thus spread love, care and faith both to themselves and others. Or as it says at the bottom of the page. “I and my household, we want to serve the Lord” – that’s what we are called, what we love and what we are passionate about.
There are many dreams and crazy ideas left. One of them was to visit India and try to make a difference for women who were previously trafficked, and in the winter of 2025 we went there and placed an order. Read more about it under the Reportage tab!
Whether you've found us here as a new or old customer – we're so happy that you're stopping by, ordering, getting in touch, following or tagging us on social media and getting in touch with stories, pictures of deliveries or ideas and telling your friends. You have no idea how happy we are for all that, it's really people like you that keep us going.
All the best! / Josephine and David at Me & My House Store AB
